METALLICA: No Early Release For 'Death Magnetic'
September 4, 2008A representative for METALLICA's management company, QPrime, has denied online reports that the band's new album, "Death Magnetic", will be released several days early in some parts of Europe.
The web site of the French retailer FNAC had listed a release date of September 9 for "Death Magnetic" — three days earlier than the previously announced September 12 "worldwide" release date. However, the QPrime spokesperson has told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that this was a "mistake" and the FNAC web site has since been updated with the correct information.
Several copies of "Death Magnetic" were sold early at a Paris record store on Tuesday (September 2),which led to the entire album being leaked online within hours.
According to FMQB.com, this week's FMQB Productions broadcast special, "Metallica: The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic", will be hosted by FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins. The pair will sit down with METALLICA for a live broadcast from 'TALLICA HQ tonight (Thursday, September 4),giving an exclusive look into one of the most anticipated albums of 2008.
"The World Premiere Of Death Magnetic" will air on stations across the country starting at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. The 60-minute program will feature James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo giving fans an exclusive look at "Death Magnetic". Keep an eye out at Metallica.com for a listing of stations carrying this program.
